Overnight freight runs on cut-offs, not promises
Overnight freight from Brisbane sounds simple — book today, deliver tomorrow. In practice, it depends on three things: when you book, where it's going, and how the receiving suburb is serviced. This guide explains the network honestly so you can plan around it.
The daily network out of Brisbane
We run consolidated overnight services from our Archerfield depot every business day to:
- Toowoomba and the Western corridor — including Gatton, Plainland, Highfields, Oakey, Dalby, Chinchilla and Roma. See Toowoomba services.
- Sunshine Coast and Gympie — Caloundra, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Nambour, Noosa, Cooroy and Gympie. See Sunshine Coast services.
- Wide Bay — Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and surrounding towns. See Wide Bay services.
- Northern NSW — Tweed, Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore, Casino and Kyogle. See Northern NSW services.
Vehicles depart Brisbane in the late afternoon and evening, are with receiving depots overnight, and out for delivery from the start of business the following day.
Booking cut-offs
The general rule across the network is 2pm cut-off for next-business-day delivery. Some lanes have later cut-offs (closer to 4pm); some regional towns are serviced on alternating days rather than daily. Talk to dispatch when you open an account and we'll publish your specific cut-offs in writing.
What "overnight" actually means by region
- Toowoomba and Gatton — delivered before midday next day in most cases.
- Sunshine Coast (Caloundra to Noosa) — delivered through the morning and early afternoon.
- Gympie and Wide Bay — typically delivered same business day after overnight transit; some outlying towns are next-day-plus-one.
- Northern NSW — Tweed and Ballina are delivered next business day; Lismore, Casino and Kyogle depend on the day of week.
If a regional drop is time-critical, don't rely on overnight — book a Hot Shot or arrange a Bulk Freight dedicated vehicle.
Pricing logic for overnight freight
Overnight pricing is almost always per pallet or per cubic metre, with minimum charges that protect against tiny consignments tying up linehaul space. Because the linehaul cost is shared across the whole vehicle, overnight is materially cheaper than same-day or Hot Shot — typically 30–60% less for the same consignment.
For high-volume accounts, we offer:
- Bulk freight rates for full-vehicle movements
- Linehaul-only rates where the customer arranges local distribution
- Permanent Daily Hire for accounts running scheduled regional drops
How to get the most out of overnight freight
- Book early — consignments manifested before noon are easier to plan than 1:55pm rushes.
- Label clearly — incomplete addresses cost a day.
- Consolidate where possible — two pallets to the same suburb is cheaper than two separate jobs.
- Tell us about size and weight up front — a pallet that's 1.6m high is priced differently to a standard 1.2m pallet.
